BETWEEN INTIMATE AND DISTANT HORIZONS
The project interprets Mediterranean living as a spatial sequence that unfolds between introspection and landscape. Integrated into the topography of Intepe, the dwellings are organized around inward-looking courtyards, inhabited terraces and sea-facing gardens, creating different degrees of intimacy between the hillside and the horizon of the Aegean Sea.
The architecture emerges from the terrain as a composition of solid mineral masses and shaded voids, where light, wind, and materiality shape the spatial experience. The sea is not revealed immediately, but gradually through a sequence of framed views, patios, and terraces that guide the transition from the intimate horizon of the courtyard to the open and distant horizon of the landscape.
The architecture of space begins in the silence of the courtyards, grows within the vibrant atmosphere of the terraces and ultimately dissolves into the infinite horizon of the sea.
In the courtyard villas, space unfolds progressively: entrance, shade, courtyard, living area, terrace, sea. The landscape is revealed slowly through a series of filtered spaces. In the terraced houses, the landscape accompanies everyday life through a continuous relationship between garden, terrace, and interior. Overlapping terraces generate shade and create an artificial topography seamlessly integrated with the natural terrain.
Conceived as a material extension of the landscape, the architecture combines mineral surfaces, warm plaster finishes, natural stone and richly textured timber, creating sheltered and intimate environments where light and wind become integral elements of the living experience. The architecture develops as a sequence of carved, tactile, and quote spaces.
A palette of soft pastel tones, carefully harmonised with the colours of the surrounding landscape, together with the use of local, minimally processed materials, reinforces the intention for the project to be perceived as a natural and timeless part of the territory: an architecture that appears to have always belonged to this place.
Typology A
CENTRAL COURTYARD VILLA
The courtyard is not conceived as a residual void, but as the generative core of the project. Open to the sky, this inner courtyard acts as a spatial condenser where architecture and landscape intertwine. More than an organizing device, it becomes the living heart of the house, bringing light, air and seasonal change into everyday life. As the threshold between built form and nature dissolves, the patio creates a place not only to inhabit, but to breathe, gather and connect with the environment.
Typology B
TWIN PATIO HOUSES
In these paired houses, the patio is the unexpected element: surprising in the way it brings natural light into the deepest and most secluded areas of the home. It is also welcoming, asserting its presence from the very threshold of the entrance and accompanying the living experience on both the ground and first floors. At the same time, it embodies a shared presence, mirrored and duplicated in its twin counterpart, establishing a subtle spatial dialogue between the two dwellings.
Typology C
COURTYARD VILLA
An internal courtyard, extending through a double-height void, connects the two levels of the villa, bringing natural light deep into the heart of the home. Life on every level is organized around this secondary source of daylight, conceived as a true room to inhabit rather than a mere light well. It establishes a seamless connection between the intimate, private green core of the house and the surrounding natural landscape, creating a dialogue between the sheltered interior and the surrounding natural landscape.
Typology D
HORIZON VILLA
An independent villa positioned along the transition between two topographic levels. Embedded within the terrain and almost invisible from above, it unfolds toward the distant horizon, embracing an uninterrupted panorama. This privileged view is filtered through a private green room, a landscaped threshold that mediates between the domestic realm and the open landscape beyond.
Typology E
TERRACE HOUSING
Interior and exterior are conceived as a continuous living environment, designed for a lifestyle that unfolds predominantly outdoors. A continuous pergola extends the domestic realm beyond its enclosed boundaries, creating a true outdoor room and a seamless prolongation of the home.
The private gardens act as a transitional buffer between this intimate residential setting and the collective swimming pool, a shared social space that serves as the focal point for gathering and community life. Through this layered sequence of spaces, privacy and sociability are carefully balanced, fostering a gradual connection between the individual dwelling and the communal landscape.
Typology G
SKY RESIDENCES
Their elevated position guarantees sweeping views and distant horizons, a defining characteristic that inspires their name. These independent units are conceived as true villas with a view, where the absence of a private garden is reinterpreted through the presence of a generous through-loggia. Positioned between one villa and the next, this sheltered outdoor room extends the living space beyond the interior, offering a privileged and protected relationship with the surrounding landscape while framing uninterrupted panoramas of the horizon.
Typology F
HORIZON LOFT
The most compact units in the development, designed to accommodate households of up to four people, offer a flexible living environment capable of adapting to a variety of needs. Space optimization is achieved through the integration of a compact furnishing system that organizes and defines the domestic layout.
A single built-in element extends along the length of the unit, incorporating the kitchen, access to the service area and concealed storage, while discreetly integrating the linear staircase that leads to the upper-level bedrooms. This multifunctional spine maximizes efficiency, freeing the remaining space for open, adaptable living areas and uninterrupted views toward the horizon.
